What is Dermamelan?

Dermamelan is a medical-grade depigmentation treatment designed specifically for the removal of deep, hormonal, and moderate-to-severe pigmentation on all skin types. Both discolouration on light and dark skin can be addressed with this treatment.

The key distinction between Cosmelan and Dermamelan is depth of correction: Cosmelan is suited to new, superficial, and mild-to-moderate pigmentation, while Dermamelan is the clinical choice for deep, stubborn, and moderate-to-severe cases, including melasma.

What Is Involved?

Dermamelan takes place in-clinic, two weeks after a preparatory lactic acid peel. Your skin is prepped with an oil-removing solution, and the Dermamelan mask is then applied and left on the skin for 6 to 12 hours, depending on skin type and pigmentation severity.

You will return home with the mask in place and follow the provided instructions for its removal. Detailed aftercare instructions are given spanning from the day of treatment to 7 months post-procedure.

Treatment Goals

  • Significant reduction in the appearance of pigmentation
  • Restriction of future pigmentation production
  • Improved skin tone and texture
  • Increased skin luminosity

Skin Conditions Targeted

  • Melasma and chloasma
  • Brown spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne
  • Uneven skin tone and blotchy skin
  • Hyperpigmentation from previous laser and peel treatments
  • Rosacea
  • Lentigo

Aftercare

The main side effects are redness and flaking, with occasional mild soreness for the first 1 to 2 days following the initial peel. The degree of reaction depends on how long the mask is left on and varies between individuals.

You will receive comprehensive aftercare instructions beginning from the moment you leave the clinic, continuing through 48 hours post-treatment, and extending to 1 to 7 months post-procedure to ensure the pigmentation is controlled at its source.

THE SDL PATHWAY

See the SDL 4-Phase Pathway Framework

Phase 1

Skin Preparation & Barrier Strengthening

Skin is stabilised through calming inflammation and barrier function repair. Some technologies and methods include the Lutronic DermaV, the SDL Glass Skin Method, and controlled chemical support.

Phase 2

Correction

Targeted device-based treatments are clinically introduced, spaced and layered. Technologies such as the PicoSure Pro may be used for laser toning, pigment management, resurfacing, and texture improvement.

Phase 3

Refinement

The focus shifts to refining skin tone, pore quality, and smoothness. This phase may involve the Lutronic LaseMD Ultra alongside SDL's depigmentation protocols.

Phase 4

Retainment (SDL Effect)

Structured skin maintenance is designed to help sustain results and support skin long-term. This may include regenerative treatments, periodic laser toning, and hydrating chemical support.

At the beginning of my treatment journey, I didn't notice much of a difference. However, as I reached the end of the process, the transformation was truly amazing. Not only did the frequency of pimples reduce significantly, but I also saw a remarkable improvement in the disappearance of pimple marks.”
