The SDL Effect is a targeted treatment programme designed to restore and reinforce the skin's natural protective barrier. When the skin's barrier is compromised, the result is persistent dehydration, sensitivity, redness, inflammation, and an accelerated breakdown of the skin's structural components.
This treatment is the foundation of lasting skin health. By addressing barrier dysfunction at its root, The SDL Effect creates the stable, resilient skin platform from which all other treatments and results can be built.
Advanced Barrier Therapy is designed for clients with chronic sensitivity, reactive skin, persistent dehydration, eczema or dermatitis, rosacea, post-procedure compromised skin, or any condition where the skin's barrier function has been impaired.
The The SDL Effect programme is customised to each client's barrier status, assessed through SDL's diagnostic scanning protocol. Treatment may include a combination of topical corrective preparations, in-clinic procedures, and a prescribed home-care barrier repair regime.
Your dermal specialist will guide you through each stage of the programme, monitoring barrier recovery and adjusting the approach as your skin responds.
Aftercare requirements vary depending on the specific components of your Advanced Barrier Therapy programme. Your SDL dermal specialist will provide detailed instructions appropriate to your treatment.
A consistent home-care barrier repair regime is an essential component of this programme and will be prescribed at your initial consultation.
Phase 1
Skin is stabilised through calming inflammation and barrier function repair. Some technologies and methods include the Lutronic DermaV, the SDL Glass Skin Method, and controlled chemical support.
Phase 2
Targeted device-based treatments are clinically introduced, spaced and layered. Technologies such as the PicoSure Pro may be used for laser toning, pigment management, resurfacing, and texture improvement.
Phase 3
The focus shifts to refining skin tone, pore quality, and smoothness. This phase may involve the Lutronic LaseMD Ultra alongside SDL's depigmentation protocols.
Phase 4
Structured skin maintenance is designed to help sustain results and support skin long-term. This may include regenerative treatments, periodic laser toning, and hydrating chemical support.
